Mounted Retardation Plates (λ/4 and λ/2)
LAYERTEC provides quarter-wave and half-wave plates as standard components for polarization control in quantum optics. The desired retardation is realized by precisely adjusting the substrate thickness, which can be manufactured from approx. 100 µm upwards.
Typical substrate material is crystalline quartz, suitable for wavelengths from approx. 200 nm to 3 µm. Diameters up to 40 mm are available.
Single-wavelength designs offer high precision and stability. Dual-wavelength versions are feasible for specific combinations, but require higher-order retardation—resulting in increased thickness and greater sensitivity to angular and thermal variations.
Substrates are manufactured in-house and can be customized to meet individual specifications.
