Quantum Photonics, a European trade event for quantum technologies and photonics. The event comprises the triad of conference, trade exhibition and networking.
Quantum technologies and photonics have developed from basic research in quantum physics
research and are closely interlinked thematically. The
The networking of players, joint research into technological components and the pooling and effective utilisation of resources are the prerequisites for the successful development of both fields. Messe Erfurt is organising Quantum Photonics in order to specifically expand such synergies and to promote research and industry transfer in both fields.
The aim of the event is to create a hub in Erfurt for regional and international companies from the quantum
companies in the quantum industry as well as research and development. The aim is to strengthen the international visibility of Thuringia as a centre for quantum photonics. There is also a special focus on supporting start-ups.
‘Quantum Photonics is perfectly positioned thematically and logistically in the centre of the strong quantum technology and photonics sector in Thuringia with its global networks and collaborations,’ says Michael Kynast, Managing Director of Messe Erfurt. ‘With the triad of congress, trade fair and networking, we are building a bridge from research and development to initial applications and their presentations,’ continues Kynast.
The event is aimed at researchers, developers and engineers at all career levels, including from the fields of computing, communication, imaging and sensor technology as well as the associated application sectors, such as medicine, life sciences, chemistry, mobility and finance.
Dr Ramona Eberhardt, Deputy Director of the Fraunhofer IOF
(Research Institute of Optics and Precision Engineering), which is providing technical support for Quantum Photonics as a partner, confirms: ‘The Quantum Photonics event offers an excellent platform to promote the close link between quantum and photonics technologies and to promote knowledge transfer.
technologies and to accelerate the transfer of knowledge from research to application. Thuringia, with its expertise in these fields, is undoubtedly the ideal location and enriches all participants.’

As the networking concept plays a central role in this event format, ‘Quantum LIVE’ will take place on 13 May 2025 as a networking event within Quantum Photonics. In addition to participants and exhibitors, supra-regional players from research and development, industry, politics, media and associations will also be there to network.
Start-ups are also very welcome.
rapid.tech 3D, the leading trade fair for the AM (additive manufacturing) industry, will take place in parallel from 13 to 15 May 2025 in its own exhibition hall, including a congress and specialist forums. As the field of additive manufacturing is used in particular for many optically based quantum technologies, dovetailing the two congress, forum and networking areas should create synergies for exhibitors and visitors.
